Good afternoon distinguished guests, speakers, delegates, industry partners, academics, and friends.

As we come to the end of this Joint SCCT-HKCI International Conference on Concrete Technologies 2026, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all who have contributed to today’s successful event. The conference theme, “Development of Innovative and Sustainable Concrete Technology for New Quality Productive Forces,” has been reflected throughout every presentation and discussion today. 

We have been privileged to learn from leading experts from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Japan, and Singapore. The presentations have taken us on an inspiring journey from CO₂ mineralization technologies and low-density engineered cementitious composites to advanced corrosion protection systems, innovative coatings, and the rapidly evolving field of 3D concrete printing. We have also explored sustainable cathodic protection, lightweight ultra-high-performance concrete and innovative applications of pervious and foam concrete. Together, these developments demonstrate how our industry is embracing sustainability, resilience, digitalization, and resource efficiency. 

Today is particularly meaningful as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Concrete Institute. Looking back, HKCI has grown alongside Hong Kong’s construction industry, promoting excellence in concrete technology, quality, sustainability, and professional development. Looking forward, we must continue to strengthen collaboration among government, academia, contractors, material suppliers, consultants, and researchers to meet the challenges of climate change, urban development and infrastructure renewal. 

Innovation alone is not sufficient; innovation must be translated into practical solutions that create safer, greener, and more durable infrastructure for future generations. The ideas shared today provide a strong foundation for achieving that vision.
